Some hate natto and won't touch the stuff, and others can't get enough. It's not that different than any country, really. Some are traditional and prefer Japanese preparations of food, others are adventurous. I know plenty of picky eaters- in Japan and elsewhere. ;) Maybe in Japan there is a closer relationship to the sea and things that come out of the sea than some places.
